FLOWSAFE Project Officially Launches

Building innovative solutions for flood-degraded ecosystems across Europe

The FLOWSAFE project has officially launched under the Horizon Europe programme, bringing together 13 partners from 6 countries to develop innovative approaches for restoring ecosystems affected by flooding.

Floods are becoming more frequent and severe across Europe, leaving behind not only visible damage but also long-term environmental challenges, including water and soil contamination. FLOWSAFE addresses these issues by combining nature-based solutions with intelligent environmental monitoring, data-driven analysis, and decision-support technologies.

Throughout the project, research teams will collaborate to develop, test, and validate innovative restoration methods at three pilot sites located in Spain, Poland, and Slovenia. These diverse environments will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the proposed solutions under real-world conditions.

By bringing together expertise from universities, research institutes, businesses, and innovation organizations, FLOWSAFE aims to contribute to more resilient ecosystems and support sustainable environmental restoration across Europe.
